I just knew this would be embarrassing! netstat reveals that Adam W was correct - I was listening on 127.0.0.1 only Here's the output: tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:10045 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 9428/visual How dumb can you get. :-( BTW, the server is one of a number of HTTP servers implemented in Smalltalk.
