Hi,

Smoothwall and IPCop are distributed as an ISO. Just burn it to a CD and boot from it. The installer will then build a complete system on your hard disk.

IPCop is the GPL fork of SmoothWall. The split occurred last year when the discontinuation of SmoothWall GPL was announced. Strangely enough after the fork SmoothWall did a backflip and the GPL still exists, however several developers and many users left to join the IPCop project.

IMHO IPCop has some distinct advantages over SmoothWall.

Cheers,

- Guy.

there's one thing I don't quite get though,
smoothwall, is it a totally independant system or does it require an
underlying GNU/Linux system
