This sounds like two dumb questions. After years of using RedHat i have set a machine up with mandrake.
Two simple problems:
1) No sound - Yet card is configured correctly and volume is set above 0.
You also need to add yourself to the audio and cdrom groups. Mandrake doesn't do tnis automatically.
