> Basically I bought membership and a debain CD for a bargain of $30. I was > just wondering whether this was including GST or if the fees are GST exempt > or whatever. It doesn't say anything about GST on the receipt. what i remember from reading the ATO guidelines led me to the understanding that 1/ invoices should show the words "Tax Invoice" displayed prominently 2/ The total GST amt should be displayed separately somewhere on the invoice i have been told recently that only the total invoice amt needs to be shown and GST is *assumed* to be included in that total amt.. ie.. 1/11 of total amt .. but i'll need to verify that myself cos i don't remember seeing that in the pamphlet that the ATO sent out just prior to the intro of GST.. maybe things have chgd the words "Tax Invoice" are important and i believe that the ATO can get very excited if they find an invoice which does not contain them words :) of cos .. the ATO is also quite realistic in its expectations with small "mum + dad" operations who are not aware of the "tax Invoice" requirement .. but really .. it is easy enuff to simply write the words on any invoice which gets handed to a customer ... or a rubber stamp .. or a few lines of code (watching out for "line creep" - do they still have that problem nowadays???) m -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
