Yep, I've got xfonts-100dpi, xfonts-100dpi-transcoded, xfonts-75dpi, 
xfonts-75dpi-transcoded, 
xfonts-artwiz, xfonts-base, xfonts-base-transcoded ... as well as 
gsfonts-x11, and a few others.
That's not the problem. I'm a bit bemused by an apparently missing x 
font server in
/etc/X11 ... surely Debian (unstable) still uses it ?
