Sawfish is extraordinarily confusing. Yes, we can all claim to understand it
because we are fine, upstanding geeks, but the level of interdependent prefs
and behaviours is deeply insane. I used to be a Sawfish 'power user', too!
metacity 'just works' for the majority of cases, and if you want something
with added CRAZY CRACK, you an always use sawfish (or even enlightenment now
that 0.16.x supports the freedesktop WM spec - hooray!)
