hello. Ive been helping a friend who's workplace has satellite down (modem up) provided by ihug. Recently they received a letter re: PAS-8 Satellite Carrier Change. All that was required was altering the downlink frequency and symbol rate... but our new changes that they suggested weren't any good. (obviously we ran /etc/init.d/skymedia restart and this took effect as shown in the logs. It all looks like it should work, but alas it hasn't)BTW: the entries they previously had in the documentation were different from ours, yet ours worked until the carrier change.
ihug don't provide much/any support for linux, so the original geeks from computerbank hacked a little to get things up-n-running. One cb guy and me had a play for a few hours, but were still having troubles... we couldn't get a positive lock. Machine Specs: Cyrix 333/16m Floppy+500M? HD NIC1=RTL8029 NIC2=Intel 8/16 Lan Express Vid=Cirrus Logic 5434 38854 Debian Potato 2.2.19 kernel Skymedia 200D PCI sat card The cb guy used the .nz iHug site for the info to set up the card and for the drivers that were installed on the box If anyone's using i-hug for satellite on a debian box, cld they pls send me their SkyData.ini file. In particular, I want the Frequency, Symbol Rate, and Local Oscillator specs. If more info is needed, please lemme know. Thanks for any help. kind regards, safari -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
