Unfortunately, alsasink was pretty broken in the 0.6 series GStreamer, and not helped by the terrible quality of the i8x0 sound hardware (I have the same chipset :-/) It's unlikely to be fixed until the new stable 0.8 debs make it into debian. I know the debs are built, but not why they're not in unstable yet. You may have more luck using esdsink with that soundcard, or harassing the package maintainer to finish off his 0.8 debs.
