Hi Robert

I tried a boot floppy from
http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/daily/floppy/

I used rawwritewin.exe (details...13/10/01 01:40 AM 530,944 rawwritewin.exe)
from an old redhat8 CD to image to a floppy.

& all was well. the listed files are:

09/12/04 06:20 PM 8,236 ldlinux.sys

also put the (root.img) on floppy.

After you get the base system up All the rest can be done online.

Simple & no CD needed.

Don't make the mistake I made ............
when it came to adding users I didn't add root.
I have never added root before because the every distro does it as a default.
NOT Ubuntu it seems.
And from the floppies I can NOT fix it.
The redhat CD came to the rescue again.
The Ubuntu CD wouldn't allow me to add a passwd to root!
The redhat CD came to the rescue again );

Subject: [SLUG] Sarge install floppies

Hi guys

I'm trying to install ubuntu (or generic debian) onto a laptop without a
cdrom drive. I've been able to download the root and boot images and am
using winimage to put them to a floppy. When I download the cd-drivers.img
and the net-drivers.img and open them in winimage they don't have any files.
I've tried dowloading from planet mirror,
ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/debian/dists/sarge/main/installer-i386/
rc2/images/floppy/ and
http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/daily/floppy/

Can anyone suggest why they are blank?

Cheers
