An odd problem with our printing started today - the printer wouldn't. We were getting error messages like:
$ lpq Get_local_host: hostname '-f' bad $ lpr test Get_local_host: hostname '-f' bad It took me a while to realise that somehow the hostname had changed to "-f", and this took out the whole printing system. The hostname was correct after the system had been booting, according to /var/log/messages, so I assume that at some stage I must have typed "hostname -f" as root!
