I know i may get slammed for saying this by the Debian hardcore but i installed mandrake 10.1 from Linux Format magazine a few months ago on my laptop and had everything working in 1hr flat albeit the Atheros Netgear card only works at 54Mbs not the 108 it works at with XP...even the modem works!! - its an absolute dream if you want to have a really fast install and dont want to mess about too much with configuration.
