Hi Mark,

Just to be different, I'd suggest SimplyMepis or Kanotix. Both are Debian based and easy to update/add-to from the DEbian repositories if you want to.

Both are also Live CDs and are HD installable.

I'm using both, though my HD installs are mostly Debian now, with just the few extra Admin packages supplied by those distros.

I've Tried RedHat ( back to 5.2), Mandrake, Suse, Lorma, etc and am sticking with the 2 above as they and Debian proper are the only distros with which I've had no problems, either software or hardware related.

SimplyMepis has already been on a few mag cover CDs, though I haven't seen Kanotix on one yet, and I buy most PC/Linux mags.

Also, Kanotix seems to be the best at hardware detection, and there is even a Lite version of 2005.3 out now. I downloaded it today and it works well.
