The POSIX C stuff has nothing to do here with the issue if you examine the post.

The statement was that data type is closely bound to computer architecture.

Secondly, the alignment has been shown to start at the next word boundary.

You cannot dispute this on 32-bit PC (intel or AMD). If you do, good luck to your programming.
