Hi all
I am trying to use linux for the first time. I would like to have a
distro like debian with 14 Cds so I don’t need to go to the internet
to get the software.
Debian would be suitable but has very old software tend not to be
updated or too long.
Can anybody assist me with any of distros that complete enough but not
too old
Many thanks
Well, given the question, I would recommend SuSE DVD, I dont use SuSE
for many reasons, but I think it is suitable in this situation. If you
get the latest PRO edition, it will give you all the software you will
need, with easy install via YAST. I think the latest pro edition is 9.3
but I could be wrong, I heard openSusE is at 10.0.
When I first started with Linux I got SuSE 9.1 PRO , and it was buy far
the best for me at the time, just use YAST, insert disk and more
software than I could ever use was at my fingertips, and all pretty new
aswell.
Have fun
