[SLUG] Catch 22 with monitor resolution in Fedora?

I see now my error about the Font Rendering Details box. It does change 
the size of the font in the Gnome things (if I can put it that way), but 
not in applications. For instance, I bumped the value up to 125 and that 
increased the size of text and icons on my panels, but not in 
Thunderbird, which I'm using right now.
