modprobe GLcore failed to work

Now trying to copy /home/lisa to a usb disc so I can just reinstall.
When usb disc plugged in mesage to terminal suggesting that it is sdh
but unable to mount sdh.
Vague memories of a scanbus comand to find where the usb disc
mounts but
cant find it in my booksx5.
Not in etc/fstab or mount.
any clues appreciated
What nvidia card does the machine have? I had to use the nvidia-
legacy stuff when I went to dapper, as it wouldn't work on the non
legacy drivers that it tried to upgrade from to. So I removed and
installed the nvidia-legacy stuff and it worked sweet.
