Hi all
If I have a laptop that is setup with Xorg for 1440 x 900 and I connect it to
an LCD
monitor which does 1280 x 1024 what happens? I gather I have to create an entry
in
the XF86Config file for that resolution by reconfiguring X. But how do you swap
between the laptop and the monitor?
The driver needs to support having the external screen recognised as
another monitor. I've been able to get some pretty funky dual and quad
monitor action happening on the desktop but laptops are a bit
trickier
I'm hoping to do exaxtly the same thing (currently running openSUSE
10.1 on laptop). Using the GUI tool, I can't do anything other than an
identical feed to the monitor just but I haven't had time to delve
any further at present.
Im buying a laptop and will need another screen as well.
I'm planning on getting some Samsung 17" LCDs as they have the onsite
3 year 0 dead pixel warranty and can be got rather cheaply - see
staticice.com.au and ausprices.com.au for good deal.
