Dear Folks,

I have been unable to run X on Ubuntu since my update to Edgy. I have
now updated to Feisty, but X still doesn't want to start.

Here is the error message:
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//neomagic_drv.so
(II) Module neomagic: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
       compiled for 6.99.99.904, module version = 1.0.0
       Module class: X.Org Video Driver
       ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.8
(EE) module ABI major version (0) doesn't match the server's version (1)
(II) UnloadModule: "neomagic"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//neomagic_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "neomagic" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

Now my laptop is an old IBM Thinkpad 570. X runs with Fedora 6 (no
problems ever).

$ lspci|grep -i vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Neomagic Corporation NM2200 [MagicGraph 256AV] (rev 20)
$ dpkg -l | grep -iE 'neomagic|xserver-xorg '
ii  xserver-xorg                                        7.2-0ubuntu11
               the X.Org X server
ii  xserver-xorg-driver-neomagic                        1.0.0.5-0ubuntu1
               X.Org X server -- Neomagic display driver

I have done sudo dpkg-reconfigure --priority=high xserver-xorg
on Edgy and Feisty, and have achieved no better result.

I am not sure what to do about this and would appreciate any help or
ideas. I am quite happy running Fedora, but would like to be happy
running Ubuntu as well.
