Hi

I am having problems with comsec sending badly formatted emails, I have emailed them faxed them, but its the case of a big business spending lots of money on their it, why would one of their clients know better then them. My problem is I run my own domain and I run my own mail server (exim on lenny/amd64)

what i see is this in the exim logs
2007-10-05 10:00:39 1IdacR-0001Z7-C7 H=mcini-ns02.commsec.com.au [203.166.116.14] F=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> rejected after DATA: malformed address: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>\n may not follow [EMAIL PROTECTED] : failing address in "To:" header is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

looks like they are sending a

[EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

when it should be a "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I think haven't double checked the rfc.

Now its not all there mail that bounces just some of it....

Any ideas how to talk to them ?

Use 'escalation', a process that's set up by large companies to deal with potential problems such as yours. Under this process when you deal with front line support staff and you are not getting results, ask him/her you want to speak to his/her manager/supervisor; then when talking to manager/supervisor still you find no resolution
to your problem ask him/her you want to speak to his/her manager/supervisor,
and so on. Continue with this escalation until your problem is resolved. Usually, the person will say my manager is not available, then you say can I speak to his/her manager and if that manager is not available, then you again say can I speak to the
manager of that manager and so on.

I have used this process successfully most often specifically with Telstra
and similar large companies. I have also used this with CommSec with lesser
success rate when it comes to technical problems such as yours. But then
CommSec is not mainly in the service of providing computing technical help.

Incidentally, I have used CommSec since 1999 and I still have a few open equities with CommSec but I'm progressively moving to E-Trade and www.igmarkets.com.au.

My favourite is the latter. If you wish to know why I like www.igmarkets.com.au visit their website and/or email me offline and I can share some stories of my profitable
experiences.

Hope this helps.

Disclosure: I will not gain materially by mentioning the name E-Trade or www.igmarkets.com.au.
