Hi Linz, If you have an Ethernet based connection, or a modem that supports an ethernet cable, just plug it in and it works. If it's a USB only ADSL modem, then get a new modem, as USB modems are awful for many reasons.
If you have a wireless 3G type service, and are using Ubuntu 8.10, the just plug it in and follow the prompts, and it works. If it's dialup, then I'm not really sure. 2008/12/29 Linz Johannsen <linz...@ozemail.com.au>: > Hi Friends > > Well, here I am in the wilds of Pine Creek NT getting this XP laptop back > together after having to wipe the HDDs and reinstall the OS and everything. > In the interim I attempted coming to terms with a mate's new Vista machine, > an experience which had me contemplating either a), parting company with Mr > Microsoft and where he was going or b), slashing my wrists. > > And it came to pass that during this time I fie me to darkest Katherine for > some Christmas shopping, and there I happened upon a copy of Ubuntu in a > paper shop.
