However, from the sound of your publication, I think I would use LyX. You have very few graphics and the rest of it sounds like it would fit easily into the LyX format. I self-published a cookbook that my wife wrote and it had quite a bit of graphics - went like a charm with LyX. If your newsletter is no more complicated than this, then go with LyX.
