edit /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth0
Get it to look something like the following...
# Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
BROADCAST=10.1.2.255
IPADDR=10.1.2.250
IPV6INIT=yes
IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=10.1.2.0
ONBOOT=yes
GATEWAY=10.1.2.253
TYPE=Ethernet
PEERDNS=yes
USERCTL=no
if there is a line in there with HW= or HWARE= with a mac address like
2B:3C:F2:... you can remove it without any dramas.
