Had tried VLC/Mplayer etc but all gave only B&W - no colour. - TVTime was only player of svideo or composite input that had both sound and colour.

Finally solved with VLC - after much much Googling and trial and error.

Hereunder are my notes re what was needed to "fix" both colour and sound in VLC:-

-----------------

VLC /Media/Capture Device/ ( capture Mode Video for Linux 2) - change "Standard" to PAL

go to "File" and set to "Play" (next to Cancel) - sound is distorted

Shit+r to record ( to /home/username/vlc-record-"date@time"-vl42_.avi
--------------------------------

DISTORTED SOUND

Audio / Advanced / Output Modules changed fom "Default" to "Alsa Audio Output"

------------------------

thanks

Bill
