-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 I have my core i3 laptop running Ubuntu 13.04 without problems on the 3.5 series kernels (3.5.0.25). However, when the system updates it causes great instability and basically refuses to work on the 3.8.1 series of kernels. I have found a temporary fix by making it boot the older kernel and all is well but I need to get to the bottom of this.
I can't check anything while the 3.8 series kernel is running as typing on the command line is like using an editor. The typed characters appear at first but nothing runs or indeed happens and the system acts like it does when a reboot is essential. I can't even run "apt-get -f install" as nothing happens. Anyone else had this problem? Is there an ISO available with a running 3.8 kernel that I could try a live boot with? Heracles PS. My desktop has no problems with the newer kernels and it's an old AMD II x4 with 8GB Ram. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJRpUdHAAoJEJk11efqjIS4hY8H/2D/+jpJ9LAOuMcBlPIsRYL6 PwJK5VuKe1lkG8uqiJJFNxaxkYDLzV0RESpqsAarABYvHkiPutjMxSFBY9APwWsn r/v1Dcdrx9CAI0EO18XYw2j+m2JcUCPuCoK8oQ5S2QYS9PFbncnepJB8rYEieK1X LtLS4F5vMKD0Yz4f8teAPXHeFP7SSHUUNXU2CCXlEj8HGKPwhAtPvTD725mGI2DO BljRO6v+sAYviC/R3wXtzFjVrmafSXtPm/YjNpPi3WnkX5psg5tJG9UfBy22rHKl lKZgU73T2ec/GzHy5yFddhIUyka6Zv6kHIAKZzc8wF3cuDwc5+rTBWpmDiyGdts= =NnQQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
