I'm working on several Linux Terminal Server Projects out of Singapore. Currently doing scoping on one project I've been doing research on Microsoft Licensing in Indonesia. Some of their workstations do have and will have Microsoft Blah! Blah! on them.
In a document called. "ProductList(WW)(ENG)(July2007)(CR)" I found this paragraph. "Language Rights for Licenses Purchased under the Government Open License Program Products licensed with non-specific language SKUs offered under the Government Open License Program may be run in any one of the following language versions: Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Croatian, English Hebrew, Indic, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Slovenian and Slovak." The reason I brought this up is I tell people, that everyday I find out something about Microsoft or Microsoft does something that makes me laugh. You don't have to be scared of them laugh at them. They do enough dumb things or mean things to know that half the company must not have a clue. In this case I remember, and if I'm wrong please tell me, that Microsoft originally did not pay for the translation work for Microsoft Windows into the various languages it is now available in. They basically gave assistance, EG, how to do language in Windows, a frame work and organisations or governments footed the bill and did the work. 10 years ago $180,000 US estimate. Great if you are Chinese and you are using an open license version and you work in an English office you really are legally only able to use one language which Microsoft didn't initially even pay for.
