---------- Forwarded message ---------- Dear all, I have updated the meeting details for this week's meetup. For the talk, we are pleased to have invited experts to share with us on Asterisk VOIP. For the second part of meetup, we want to update you on the upcoming Software Freedom Day events in Singapore. Do come down and we hope you can be part of this exciting event. The Singapore Linux April Meeting<http://linux.meetup.com/5/calendar/7562366/> Talk Summary: ------------- ASTERISK VOIP ------------------------- An incredible revolution is under way. It has been a long time in coming, but now that it has started, there will be no stopping it. It is taking place in an area of technology that has lapsed embarrassingly far behind every other industry that calls itself high-tech. The industry is telecommunications, and the revolution is being fueled by an open source Private Branch eXchange (PBX) called Asterisk?. Asterisk sits at the apex of a variety of transitions (Proprietary ➝ Open Source, Circuit Switched ➝ VoIP, Voice only ➝ Voice, Video, and Data, Digital Signal Processing ➝ Host Media Processing, Centralized Directory ➝ Peer to Peer) while easing those transitions by providing bridges back to the older ways of doing things. The founders of Max Cole Technology Solutions, a Singapore based company providing commercial sales and support of Asterisk based PBXes, will be giving a technical presentation on Asterisk and VoIP on Wednesday April 16th.
