I had always thought that cups had that functionality as a default, but it is good to see something like the cups-pdf "plugin" so that any app can create a pdf. Yes, KDE has had that as part of KDE, which sadly has been missing in Gnome, XFCE etc. The right place to have the "print to pdf" should be in the printing subsystem instead of it being added into desktop environments - a repeated and wasteful exercise, IMHO.
