The client matters, in this case. I prefer to stick to GMail's web interface because of the conversation grouping and interface, but I have to live without a reply-to-list function (combination of reply-to-all and reply-to or so I hear) and top-posting which I myself do not favour. I've been alright with it because GMail hides those quotes, but I've recently been thinking about those that have clients which do not hide them. From now onwards, I make the effort to cut out everything. If needed, a few points can be referenced bottom-posting style.
