Well, exactly. If there were no demand, they wouldn't give it a second
look. Of course, they're firmly at the "free beer" stage, instead of
"free speech". But so is Singapore :-]  Have you noticed that
"Exercise your right to free speech!" campaign of Singtel? "Free
speech" turns out to be "free calling on 20 campuses" if you have a
"student plan" contract with them -- not exactly "free" in the same
sense.

Here, "free beer" means: selling whatever will make a buck.
In Singapore, it means: hollow promises to consumers to keep them
locked in to your closed product.

(Just my quickly devaluing 0.02 ZAR.)
