Thanks for the info on 'su'. Will give it a try. Regarding persistence: from what I read on the Fedora 9 website, persistence only happens if I install Fedora 9 on a USB thumbdrive with extra space for the persistence data. Is it possible to enable persistence via the LiveCD? I have an old Thinkpad R40 that does not support booting off a USB media (only CDROM or floppy drive). So a way to store persistent data on a thumbdrive (perhaps in a special partition or file on the USB media) while booting off a CD would be great for me.
