Thanks Carlton,
i must admit that this baby is tempting me... a lot...
Where did you come to know what type of RAM is supposed to come with it? i
looked at the specs on the Asus website and it only says "DDR2 SO-DIMM".
The 1000H (according to the website again), looks good. With 2 GB RAM and 80 GB
HDD, Ubuntu should run very well on it and i may even be able to do some
virtualisation on it.
But have never seen the 1000H locally though...
Regards,
Edwin

Almost quite happy with the computer and Linpus/Xandros/Easy Desktop or
whatever you want to call it.
The one that come with a 40GB solid state hard drive. 10 inch screen.
Etc.
M1 3G works well. Battery last 7 hours. Keyboard is big enough. Screen
is bright enough. Almost a laptop first internal speaker is loud
enough....
My problem. Doing research before buying the laptop we found that it
would have DDRII-667 RAM. This is what we thought it had and what we
thought we were paying for.
DDRII-400/CL3 RAM in Single Channel-Mode is what received. Not even
close. Or so I think. In test, FlightGear 1.xxx displays from 4 or 5
frames a second up to 12. I would like better.
So a warning. If you buy Asus locally you may not be getting 667. I've
emailed this problem Asus asking for the correct memory or for money
back. They have not replied. It may not be them but a dealer problem.
What have you all experienced.
