I've had a good experience with Albert Court hotel. I believe it's at around the same price range as the other suggestions. If you need really low cost, you could probably try the Hotel 81 or Fragrance chains (not all their hotels are in Geylang). I've heard that the rooms are tiny, basic, but clean.
