Hello all,

i've just bought a 16 GB USB flash drive, and would now like to put Ubuntu on
it. i have tried both "Create a USB startup disk" that comes with the Ubuntu
live CD, and Portable Linux (http://rudd-o.com/new-projects/portablelinux), but
in general, both seems to just duplicate the live CD onto the USB drive, and
reserve an area on the USB drive for persistent data.

i would actually like more "control" over the "installation" process, in
particular, i would like to do partitioning of the USB drive manually:
- partition a VFAT area for "/boot"
- partition a VFAT area for data (so that the USB drive can still be used for
data-transfer across OS)
- partition a JFFS2 area for "/".

ideally, i would like to go through the same step-by-step wizard as when
installing Ubuntu onto harddisk.

Any advice on whether this would be possible and how it should be done?

Thanks in advance,
Edwin
