    Only because R is meant to do computations/statistics and I thought
    perhaps what you have could fit into that.  Naturally, if the code is
    Matlab only then I guess it does not apply.


I'd also presume that it'd be much easier to run R script in multiple
machines also, similar to any other Unix script, no GUI needed. I'm not
sure whether you can do the same with Matlab script.

You can run Matlab without a gui. Just disable java and the gui when starting matlab. Used to do that all the time in school. =)
