interesting topic that caught my eye, use the add programs, i think there's a gui ver of putty you could install and get the job done oh yeah just specify in the connection tab /dev/USB0 i think, can't remember, did it a long time ago..but after a while u'll kinda do everything from within your console...
oh and a word of caution not all the usb2serial converters works yeah..u might wanna be on the look out for that. hope the info came in time if you're still experimenting.
