I'm working on updates to my Puppet module for managing SLURM and am in the process of adding support for managing SPANK plugin configuration files. I notice in the documentation for SPANK that the only mention of changes requiring a service restart of slurmd is for the "slurmd context". Currently I only use in my environment the x11 SPANK plugin.
Is there a good way to know if a SPANK plugin requires a restart of slurmd besides looking at the source for the plugin? Is the slurmd process the only process that interacts with SPANK plugins, or is it possible that slurmctld would have to be restarted for a plugin to be loaded? Would it be at all unwise to always restart slurmd when a new SPANK plugin is added or the config options modified? My hope is to work out when specific actions should be taken (restart service) when config changes are made to files that load SPANK plugins.
