We are seeing the same issue on 16.05 - warning when using --ntasks-per-node
and --node together in a job-script.

Also --cpus-per-task is not doing what it should when using OpenMPI.

Roshan

Subject: [slurm-dev] Slurm 16.05 and Intel MPI with --ntasks-per-node

Hi all

I've noted a small issue in the behaviour of all versions of Intel MPI (4.1 -
5.1) with Slurm since upgrading to 16.05 from 15.08. Specifically, if
specifying '--ntasks-per-node' and '--ntasks', we seem to always get a warning
from srun:

srun: Warning: can't honor --ntasks-per-node set to 16 which doesn't match the
requested tasks 1 with the number of requested nodes 1. Ignoring
--ntasks-per-node.

This will be using Intel MPI's mpiexec.hydra for job launching, which in turn I
think calls srun. OpenMPI works just fine.

I'm wondering if anybody else has seen this, or if it is some aspect of 16.05
configuration I've missed that affects it. If it's a bug, which I'm far from
certain of, does it qualify as a bug in Slurm or in Intel MPI given that the
same Intel MPI versions worked OK with Slurm 15.08?

Cheers
Ade
