"BlackBerry" Presiden Amerika Serikat Barak Obama ternyata harganya mencapai US$ 3.350 (sekitar Rp 36,8 juta). Ponsel ini mahal harganya karena Gedung Putih memakai pengaman khusus. Seperti ditulis blogger Marc Ambinder untuk majalah The Atlantic, ponsel ini punya pengaman khusus untuk percakapan via telepon maupun pengimin dokumen. Sistem pengaman "BarackBerry" ini memakai teknologi Sectera Edge keluaran General Dynamics. Sectera Edge adalah kependekan dari Secure Mobile Environment Portable Electronic Device.. Sistem pengaman seperti itu juga telah dibuat oleh pemerintah Indonesia . Sistem itu dikembangkan oleh polisi bekerja sama dengan Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi. Ponsel yang tak bisa disadap harganya Rp 100 juta. Obama yang merupakan salah satu dari BlackBerry's addict tetap ingin menggunakan BlackBerry'nya untuk piranti komunikasinya. Namun Staf Gedung Putih melarang Obama menggunakan BlackBerry'nya karena alasan keamanan.
