You know how the WORP protocol came about that they (Proxim) uses in their new Tsunami MP.11 ? Well basically Karlnet was asked to build a new karlnet version for this new hardware platform that uses a different chip and everything on it. Karlnet said sure if you guys pay us to do develop it no problem but you also have to pay a license fee for each unit sold. So basically karlnet wanted to cake and yet eat it. Proxims responds was s you. If we pay someone to develop we will not pay any licenses. So they "reinvented" the wheel and called it WORP and cut Karlnet off. I many times wounder if the discontinuing of some of the Lucent products that can be loaded up with Karlnet is not due to this.
