Sending multiple SNMP GET requests to every device every 2 seconds uses a
lot of bandwidth on a network with anymore than a few
clients.
Adjustable times would
be a nice addition I am also working on some MRTG Scripts right now in fact, but
I ran into a problem how in gods name do I make a dynamic cfg file I want to use
a perl script as a config but can't figure a way to jimmy rig it into working I
mean when the perl is run it reads the dbase txt file and returns the proper
text output to represent the cfg file but mrtg doesn't execute files it just
reads them L any suggestions
guys?
What do you mean eats
the network? Is SNMP that overburdening really?

Thanks for the
suggestion and will feedback to the developer. The current polling interval is
every 2 sec and the log trap is realtime. We just got new simpleNMS 1.1 Beta,
please try it and feedback to us. Thanks.

There is a program
called Loriot (Shareware now, but I have the freeware version if anyone needs
it) that is a network management software that can send emails and do all
kinds of cool stuff. You really need to know your SNMP though to use it. I am
working on a loging script now but it could still take some time to finish it.
MRTG can be used in windows as a loger. simpleNMS can log stats but is limited
to a fixed polling of 10-11 seconds and can eat up bandwidth. simpleNMS's data
is saved to a text based log file that could be parsed and posted to a web
page.
SMARTBRIDGES TECHS -
Can we have an option to set the polling interval in
simpleNMS?

Ok I have changed everything over
to smartbridge APP's. I used to have cisco 340 equiptment and had my mikrotik
router setup with static routes to the radios and could check the logs
remotely without any problems(turn the ip's on and off in the router when I
wanted access). Well now I have a problem and I would think there had to be
something better than having to learn mrtg and set all that up (probly take me
forever) I could pay someone to do it but I still have another learning curve
just to check the logs of my radios. Why does this have to be so complicated?
The software smartbridges is nice but it does not let me see anything on my
webserver(like a status webpage) thru the net on dial-up. (dont laugh it
isnt funny, I can not get my own service). I am wondering what all of you are
doing to monitor your networks remotely. Am I the only one left that has not
learned Linux....lol I had to pay someone to program my webserver and now it's
looking like I have to pay them to make a monitoring system for my network
because I have no logs to check. Someone should make an easy to install has
everything your need to run it software solution for
this??
