If I remember correctly, the search is done by broadcast.
If the PC running simpleMonitor is on a different network (a router between the aBs and the PC), then search won't work. Connecting by IP works _if_ the default gw and primary port are set correctly on the aB.
If the PC running simpleMonitor and the aBs are on the same network but their subnet masks don't match, search won't work. Connecting by IP works _if_ the IP of the PC is within the subnet mask scope of the aB.
