Regardless of the mode, the two antenna will operate in diversity mode.  Let us know the test result.

Hes asking when the APPindoor is set to CB mode does it still operate in diversity mode or is that for AP only. I belive it still operates.

As a note we are going to be doing this with some 10db magmount omni's we found on ebay if it doesn't get signal all the time in comes the damn 500mw amps J Also a VOIP phone connected to the switch in the car really helps cut down on cell phone calls just stop make sure theres a link dial via the voip and your on the way we are working on doing this as a added customer service soon. Going to begin testing it with an AB standard with a 10db mag mount and see if we can get it to work well before adding an amp or anything..

aPP Indoor has two 2.2dbi antenna and by default is set to diversity. Is that what you are asking for?

I am not planning to use it while driving, buy just to have a better reception when in the car. Sometime I have to move the car back and forth to get a good signal. I just want to know if the APPindoor wil have the diversity functionality active when in the bridge mode.

By the way, I would love to have live strreamong in my car while moving. I have a table for the laptoip and documents anyway. I have the audio connected to my car. All it is missing live streaming when moving

I guess it's sweet dreams for now. And it is Ok. My life is complicated enough

Why not?

You might encounter some extremely strange signal levels though when moving.  Diversity is better capable of producing recognizable

results when deployed at a fixed location.

Not to say it won't function vehicular, it will.  Just ask Marlon or Patrick about the Pro11 series they have in use around the USA and

other places.

CAn I install an APPIndoor in my car with one antenna in the front and one in the back, run it in bridge mode and get the diversity function?

No.  In repeater mode the ethernet port serves to only be a management port.  Nothing else.

Ok.  What happens if I am running in Repeater mode with the ethernet port?  Could I run in repeater mode, and still tie in 2-3 other APPOs?

The airPoint-PRO can operate in four different Modes, namely

  • Access Point - In this mode the airPoint-PRO is operating as a normal 802.11b compliant Access Point. Client Info and Client Auth Tabs of simpleMonitor will be enabled in this Mode.
  • Client Bridge - In this mode the airPoint-PRO is operating as ethernet client, and you can associate it with Access Point on the LAN. SiteSurvey and Link Status Tabs of simpleMonitor will be enabled on this Mode. This Ethernet Client supports the multiple PCs. See the Application notes for more details.
  • Wireless Bridge - In this mode airPoint-PRO can bridge 2 or more LANs wirelessly. This Mode support 2 subModes as,
    1. Point to Point - This mode lets one airPoint-PRO talk to another airPoint-PRO wirelessly linking two Ethernet LANs behind together.
    2. Point to MultiPoint - This mode lets multiple airPoint-PRO linking multiple Ethernet LANs.

Wireless Bridge Tab of simpleMonior will be enabled in this mode.

  • Wireless Repeater - In this Mode airPoint-PRO radio act as Access Point and ethernet client simultaneously. The Access Point serves the local clients and client connects to the parent Access Point. Client Info, Client Auth and Link Status Tabs of simpleMonitor will be enabled on this mode. Please see the application note for more details.

Wireless Bridge mode will not function as AP mode; it is for connecting Lan to Lan.

Subject: [smartBridges] Clairfication of Wireless Bridge and Repater Modes

First off, let me tell you my current setup.

NOC with Tower, and AP Total unit.

Second Tower with AP Total Unit

The NOC has two T3s for bandwidth.

In Wireless Bridge Mode, I have two submodes.

submode 1is Point-To-Point.  This allows my AP on tower 2 to talk to my AP at my NOC.

submode 2 is Point-to-multipoint.  Correct me if I am wrong on this, but this allows that SAME AP on either tower (they are both in Wireless bridge mode) to be a Access Point for any clients. If clients are inbetween these locations, I have two towers that they can shoot at for service ..

In repeater mode, it is just like using a router once the AP grabs the signal, the APPO grabs the signal from the NOC and then sends it back out for any clients.

Now if I am wrong, which somehow I am assuming that I am, these two modes are VERY identical.

How have I read the information wrong?

Dennis
