I have been strapping them to the pole/wall horizontally. I've read a
couple of complaints in this forum, but I've had success by taking this
preemptive step.

Yeah, its the same connector. BTW, what is the concencus here regarding
how waterproof the connectors are? I have been waterproofing, just to be
safe. Anyone leaving them out in the open without issues?
