<flame> Quit using basic/stupid network hacks and sending a broadcast packet to 255.255.255.255:161 I'm tired of having to reconfigure a switch every time I need to use simpleDeploy... give the ability to type in an address.
It irritates me enough that I was willing to buy a plane ticket just to come out there and smack someone around for doing that.. If you want to build a product meant for the enterprise, THEN FREAKING DO IT. Writing software that can only operate in a single network segment just blows my mind. A few Enterprise quality items.. 1) don't think the unit will be next to the computer, because it won't be. 2) make software to where you can have multiple instances of it running at once. 3) have the capability of sending SNMP traps to a host, or better yet multiple hosts. 4) support something other than clear text snmp version 1. 5) quit calling the "password" a password. it's not. call it by it's true name, snmp community. 6) When you do a factory reset, reset all of the settable items to their default. And don't tell me it does, it doesn't change the channel it's on... 7) If your going to use proprietary software, write it to where it works at least 90% of the time. I'm tired of getting into an APPI and having to quit, start it up, "log" into the device, quit, and doing this 6 times in a row.. why? because I want to set the wireless to only use the "left" or the "right" but it's grayed out. 8) LABEL THE UNIT as to which is left and which is right. Your documentation doesn't even have it in it (ok, the latest version might, I haven't checked and don't care to waste time on it right now) I have been working in Enterprise quality/size networks for a very long time. Coming from an area that I'm watching a few thousand servers you learn very quickly you can't use software that is setup to where the unit has to be on a hub or directly connected to your local computer. </flame> The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org
