Whoa….guess I did ask for this.  Anyway you can post links to this next time??  The 1 Meg emails kill the Part-15 servers and our email accounts.

BTW…without seeing say 2 or 3 clients side by side with before and after (or a single graph showing the increase in RSSI/LQ), it is impossible to see the improvement.

Sorry Earl…but thanks for passing on the good info.  I know that I read every email in an attempt to smarten myself up a bit.

Hi Sully,

Here are the before (clientsold.jpg) and after (clients.jpg). The rock solid ones are D-Link DWL 900 AP's. I think the CPE's are lying to me tho. The RSSI and LQ values in the D-Link units are only updated upon reset I think. Otherwise it shows the last good RSSI and LQ value. Sucks. The sawtoothed ones are SB equip. Its cause they are updated once a second and I am sampling with mrtg once every 5 mins. The sb units are more truthful I think. Also the graph with sawtooths in appo.jpg are the backhaul units by SB.  The others with solid lines are D-Link 900's again. On the right side of the APPO.jpg graph is the number of clients associated to each of my 5 AP's 4 of witch are one half of a repeater. Also I am enclosing a graph of my network monitored with Whatsup Gold.(whatsup.jpg) Lets you draw maps etc.

Earl,

3 Questions:

1. Unless I am missing something, I cant see the improvement that you

are referring to without seeing the BEFORE and then the AFTER graphs?!?

2. What type of filters exactly are you speaking of?

3. Why are almost all your graphs showing ROCK SOLID values?? What I

mean is...only 2 of your graphs appear to be genuine wireless traffic

(the ones that look more saw tooth)??? ALL of my graphs show saw tooths

(some smoother than others) for the LQ. The RSSI is pretty stable on

all...but not ROCK SOLID FLAT LINE, like yours?? What's up with that??

Did you use some MRTG switch setting that makes your graphs smooth flat

lines??

Here is the mrtg plots for 8-13-03 at 2:30 pm. I changes an amp on the

main repeater to one that has a filter on both the input and output and

it seems to have made a difference. The amp is only $120 and you can get

mmcx to "n" bulkhead pigtails for $10 each. No case or Power supply, but

what the heck. These amps are great. Come from Cincinnati mfg. If there

is an interest, I'll get the url and post.
