But how does it know WHERE to send the traps (like, the IP Address of our SNMP SysLog Server)? There is no configuration option for SNMP Traps Destination IP Address. So, if we have multiple cities with multiple networks yet have 1-2 SysLog Servers (on our NMS network) how would we ever see the traps? Sounds like it's just blasting them to anyone who will listen on the same, contiguous subnet --- not an Engineered design at all.....at least not the way a SOBER Engineer with half a brain would design SNMP functionality :-)

Thanks, Tom.

Yes, 1 will enable traps which is the default (I think). Listen on port 162
for incomming traps. There is a list of all traps as well as a brief
description for each in the MIB file which is located in the simpleMonitor
directory.

Tom,

This is pretty cool. I was not aware that we could even enable the
Smartbridges equipment to send traps.....I thought we could only get events
via SNMP polling. To enable traps, would you set the OID to 1 (or what)?

Thanks.
