You stated “Thunderstorm”,  how much localized lightning did you have?  I’m down in South Florida and even when we get some seriously dense downpours the signal remains stable, however lightning in close proximity has some very unique effects.  Especially in the quantity we get.

 Who says rain doesn't affect 2.4 Ghz. Here is a small pic of a client at 17 miles.Between 1600 and 1800 we had a thunderstorm between our head end and client. The client CPE is a SB APPO in the client mode. The head end is an APPO in the AP mode. Channel 11.Head end antenna is 15 Dbi omni with 500 MW amp. Client is 24 DB? Grid antenna.
