That's good to know!  I'll keep a look-out for high signal strengths.
However, I doubt that's the problem I'm facing since these customers are in an apartment building and they range from being right next to the antenna all the way out to about a block away.

There are things totally outside the spectrum in use that can be VERY strong.  Amateur radio transmitters, emergency vehicles, and so on.
 
These are nearly impossible to locate, observe, or even GUESS at, by a remote operator of a wireless operation.

I think you are right. It can not be just the “interference”. Our offices are probably the most dense Wi-Fi installation in the world, with so many devices operating on each desk.
