Don't use a splitter unless your going to use the same antenna on both ends with EQUAL length of cable... Your asking for trouble!!  Use another APPO and bridge them back-to-back.. We are not sure whether APPO in CB mode with omni can solve this problem. (5miles radius might be too much for omni). Best solution might be putting a APPO with 2 directional antennas( Is it possible to do this ? if  'yes' , how ?). Also we think about installing 2 APPO's and bridge them.
