Radiator is one bad ass RADIUS!!! Best I have seen for the money. Not
only that, but it WORKS!! Very easy to install and maintain.

The big question is why are you reinventing the wheel? There are
several billing systems that are written for ISP billing - Optigold,
ISPPower, Freeside, Rodopi. Most of them can be extended to do
everything you want without all that much trouble. We use ISPPower -
it's stable and easily expandable. It bills automatically, builds and
pushes the RADIUS authentication files, pushes mail usernames/passwords
to the mail server, keeps track of what equipment the customer has,
usage, etc. Used to use Rodopi but didn't care for it overall. Never
tried Optigold but a lot of ISP's swear by it.

If we wanted ISPPower to create the MRTG files it would be easy to write
a script to pull that from the database and send it to the collector -
just too lazy so far to get around to writing it.

I guess the part that puzzles me most is why WISP's in general keep
trying to reinvent things. Other than the last mile there isn't much
of the needs of a WISP that a traditional ISP hasn't had to deal with
for the last 6 years. 99% of the backend stuff is already available,
most of it free if your willing to learn a little about Unix. If your
serious about this business you'll end up learning Unix anyway in the
long run. Please don't think I'm trying to start an OS war (or even
interested in discussing it) - I'm not.

I'm actually working on something similar to that.
But it's quite a ways from completion. I'm using
MS SQL Server 2000, NT Radius on an NT4 box that
uses SQL server for auth, and everything is managed
through a web interface written in VBScript.

I am definitely looking for something that ties into the
networkactually, that is the whole point. Butbilling I do auto thru
PAYPAL. NO BILLING FOR ME WHATSOEVER!

I am looking for a customer/inventory/network database. Something I can
enter my inventory/supplier info into, then when I sign up a new client,
I can use a drop-down to select the next equipment in line, and auto
assign the next unused IP. Then setup a form which will be printed to
give to each client for their settings, email and contact info.

I would also like the MAC address for each device to automatically be
written to my text file for the appropriate AP (which I will upload for
internal MAC). I would eventually, like the database to write the MAC
address to my radius server (once I get one setup).

Hmmm.guess that is about it.

Unless I can also get it to automatically append to my MRTG config file
and update my webpage with this clients MRTG graphs.

Is that too much to ask??

Hahahah

Hi Sully,

I'm using (actually just stopped using) Lotus Database. If the
templates are compatible, I can give you my template. (I stopped using
it because it was too time consuming for what I need to do and my
sales/marketing person has her own program to keep track of customers.)

Kind regards,
Sevak

I am at the point now where I need to pay someone to complete/polish my

Before I do that, I was wondering if there are any freeware WISP
databases (templates) or possibly if someone wants to let loose of there
"proud baby"?!?! (:

I currently do ALL my admin stuff on a Windows XP box, so that is all I
am interested in for now (my fianc is taking over the books and that is
all she knows).

I really appreciate it!!
